* Our Day Pass and Saturday Overnight rates have remained unchanged for over a year. In the past twelve months, our one-time downstairs admission has only gone up by a mere TWENTY CENTS (actually $0.18 and the rest is taxes). That's a yearly increase of less than 0.013%. I suspect that most everything else we all buy (been grocery shopping lately?) has gone up drastically more than that. The steam bill, among other things, certainly has, as have the local and national inflation rates, but we still have no plans to increase our prices at this time as long as our valued customers keep patronizing the Sauna.

How about a discount for the rest of us loyal customers who are the ones who've kept this place open? I'm sorry, but 16 bucks in this economy, and especially in this city, is outrageous. You will continue to lose your base customers. I know for years that the idea of a membership or similar program has been out of the question, but if you want to be open five years from now, you MUST do something about this. I realize this is the only place of it's kind for many miles, but treating customers this way is not fair. Is the no smoking policy still in effect, I hope? I would love to return to the sauna on a regular basis but again, I am not paying 16 bucks a visit (which adds up very fast if you want to visit once per week).

TO GENE: Yes the area where the sauna is located is safe. It is only a half block off the main street in downtown Duluth. Nothing to be concerned about. As for who frequents the sauna on any particular night, WHO KNOWS? It just depends on who choses to show up on any particular day, Its all hit and miss, take your chances.

Duluth Superior Bears--this is the newest bear group for bears, cubs and admirers. We have started and are going to have a bear coffee (come and socialize with others of like mind) starting on Oct 25 and running the 4th Saturday of every month at Jitters, 102 W. Superior St. in Duluth from 3-5pm. The event is free to attend but do ask that you patronize Jitters as they have coffees, teas, sandwiches and pastries. These are Yahoo groups that I put together (the term ownership) Most of my groups do not have moderators who help me approve memberships, I do all that myself.
